CSA, week 9

CSA, week 9

Now we’re talkin’! Sure, the kohlrabi and greens and other spring veggies were fun, but mid to late summer is when the veggies I really love start coming into season. I was thrilled with this week’s CSA haul. Here is a photo of the full share: eggplant (!), zucchini (small and large), broccoli, beets, sweet corn (!), cabbage and onions. I also picked up a bunch of kale, but that didn’t make it into the photo.

I cooked up a good portion of my half of the share right away. The corn went on the grill. (I like to grill the corn in its husk: I pull down the husks, butter the cob, then wrap the husks back over the corn and toss it on the grill.) So did the zucchini and onions. (I sliced them up, tossed them with a little olive oil, minced garlic, salt and pepper, wrapped them up in foil, and put the foil packets on the grill.) Delicious.

My CSA share from week 8 didn’t get to pose for a photo, thanks to a busy week moving into a new house and playing host to out-of-town friends, but for those keeping track of our CSA summer, the share that week included: kohlrabi, broccoli, kale, cabbage, onions, zucchini, eggplant, and an herb called winter savory.
